If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or need urgent support in the UK, there are several helplines and services available to assist you:

24/7 National Helplines

 

NHS Mental Health Crisis Support

  • NHS 111 (England & Wales)
    Call 111 and select option 2 for 24/7 mental health support. This service connects you with trained mental health professionals who can guide you to appropriate care, including crisis teams or local services.

  • NHS 24 (Scotland)
    Call 111 for urgent mental health support. 

  • Lifeline (Northern Ireland)
    Call 0808 808 8000 for 24/7 support

 

Local Support in Birmingham

  • Birmingham Mind Mental Health Helpline
    Call 0121 262 3555 or 0800 915 9292 (freephone) between 9am and 11pm for advice and information.

Support for Specific Groups

  • Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)
    Call 0800 58 58 58 or visit thecalmzone.net for support if you're experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress. 

  • Rethink Mental Illness
    Call 0808 801 0525 for support and information on mental health issues.

  • Mind
    For general mental health support, call 0300 123 3393 (Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm) or visit mind.org.uk. (First Call Therapy and Health Services)

In an Immediate Emergency

  • Call 999 or go to your nearest A&E if:

    • Someone’s life is at risk

    • You cannot keep yourself or someone else safe

    • You are experiencing severe distress or have harmed yourself
